Since its creation 40 years ago, DGA has played a key role in developing efficient defence systems and building a powerful and independent industrial base. Geostrategic changes, budgetary constraints and progress in European defence have totally changed the traditional relationship between government and national industry. From now on, it is within the European framework that DGA must define and act as a « prime » of the defence system, which goes far beyond the simple role of procurement towards the european defence industry.
