Editorial
On its 67th anniversary, Défense nationale et sécurité collective is embarking on an important new venture: following two years’ study, the Committee for National Defence Studies has decided to launch an English edition of the journal.
This development seemed to us necessary: to increase our readership outside the French-speaking circle; to diffuse strategic thinking that does not necessarily conform to dominant schools of thought in the Anglo-American world; and to provide food for thought for English readers.
In an increasingly complex, dangerous world, we hope, through the exchange of differing but apposite experiences and ideas, to help confront the security challenges that we face together.
The first issue of the English edition has been timed to coincide with the Eurosatory exhibition in June, two or three others will be published before the end of the year, and as from January 2007 we aim to publish a print edition monthly.
The investment made in terms of financing and human resources will ensure that the editorial and technical standards are on a par with the French edition. The difference will be in the colour of the cover: we could obviously not resist the temptation to give the English edition a red coat.
